A few house plans, if you can spare them

Hi David,

I hope you are doing well. I have a small favor to ask, and I want to be clear about it so it does not take much of your time.

I am testing a tool that reads a house plan and writes down the rooms and the sizes that are already printed on the sheet. It does not calculate a heating or cooling load. It does not produce a permit report, and it is not a substitute for an architect’s or an engineer’s work. A person still checks the result. I am only trying to see whether the tool can read a clean plan correctly.

What would help most is a few real single-family house plans, as PDF files, the kind you would already give to a builder.

The sheets that help

For each house, these are the useful pages:

What kind of houses

One to three stories is ideal. If you have them, a mix would be perfect: one simple house, one with an L-shaped or more broken-up plan, and one two-story house. Three to five houses is plenty. More is welcome only if they are easy for you to send.

Please send the original digital PDF from your drawing program, not a phone photo and not a fuzzy scan. If the only copy is a scan where the numbers are hard to read, skip that one.

Before you send a file

Please remove the owner’s name and the street address. A project name like “House A” is enough. You do not need to redraw anything, measure anything, or fill out a spreadsheet. If the room area is already printed, that is helpful, but please do not calculate anything new for me.

You also do not need to send structural sheets, electrical sheets, or plumbing sheets. Elevations are optional. I only need an elevation if a window or door size appears there and nowhere else.

These files will stay with me for this test. I will not publish them, and I will not use them to train a public model. If a plan is too bound up with a client for you to share even with the name and address removed, please skip it. I would rather have fewer clean plans than one plan you are unsure about.

Thank you. I know plans are your work, and I appreciate you even looking.
